Partner Introduction: DESTEC Università di Pisa

The Università di Pisa (University of Pisa) is a world-renown Italian higher education institution founded in 1343, with didactic and research activities in all domains of engineering, science, medicine, and human and social sciences.

 

The Department of Energy, Systems, Territory and Constructions Engineering (DESTEC) with its Fluid Machinery and Systems for Energy and Environment is active in the research of energy systems, renewable energy, terrestrial propulsion systems, energy storage and hydrogen and fuel cells.

 

In the CleanH2Shipping project, UniPi/DESTEC is the coordinator and will dedicate the efforts in modeling the vessel with the fuel cell and hydrogen storage technology, optimize the hydrogen storage refilling strategies and address technological problems and will contribute to the safety plan.

Finally, the research group will also contribute to the techno-economic and lifecycle assessment of the hybrid fuel cell propulsion system, focusing on the propulsion system and analyzing the data obtained in the demonstration phase.
