MTS Duisburg GmbH (MTS) is an experienced inland shipping company operating container vessels on major European waterways. As vessel owner and operator, MTS brings practical operational expertise, fleet management capabilities and direct market access to the CleanH2Shipping project.

 

At the same time, the development and commercial exploitation of hydrogen-powered vessels form a strategic core of MTS’ long-term business model. The company actively invests in next-generation zero-emission propulsion systems to position itself at the forefront of sustainable inland water transport in Europe.

 

Within the CleanH2Shipping project, MTS is responsible for the realisation and operational deployment of the hydrogen-powered inland vessel Sylvania. This includes integration and validation of the fuel cell propulsion system, implementation of the swappable H₂-MEGC (Multiple-Element Gas Container) solution, and demonstration of the vessel under real commercial conditions.

As a pioneer operator, MTS is working to ensure that the Sylvania is not only a technological milestone, but a commercially viable and scalable blueprint for hydrogen-powered inland shipping across European waterways.
