Partner Introduction: Argo-Anleg
16/03/2026 – Wesel, Germany
Argo-Anleg GmbH – hydrogen experts – is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month!
Argo-Anleg GmbH is thus a ‘dinosaur’ in the market and has remained a medium-sized company certified according to DIN EN 9001. It has grown from an engineering firm focusing on special valve technology to a globally recognized company specializing in the development and implementation of integrated hydrogen solutions.

The team at Argo-Anleg GmbH and its network of suppliers and partners stand for innovation, quality and reliability MADE IN GERMANY. At its location in Wesel, around 20 employees work on the future of energy supply in 800 m² of office and production space. The advantages of an SME include the necessary flexibility that continues to be required for H2 projects.

Today, Argo-Anleg – known on the market as ‘ANLEG’ – is one of the leading providers of hydrogen solutions that are individually tailored to the needs of international customers.
The core approach in all concepts is to ‘reduce interfaces to the essentials while ensuring maximum system safety. This applies to the well-known segments ranging from research to mobility (automotive, rail), marine, aerospace, industry and energy supply.
To continue to meet the needs of the rapidly growing demand – especially from the maritime world – Argo Anleg SAS, based in Lorient (Brittany), France, was recently founded by Jan Andreas and the event was officially announced in January 2026 at Hyvolution in Paris.
H2 pioneer Jan Andreas
Jan Andreas, managing director of Argo-Anleg GmbH, is a pioneer and trailblazer in hydrogen technology. Back in the 1990s, he worked on the hydrogen-powered propulsion systems for the Ariane rocket, a flagship project of the European Space Agency (ESA).
At the end of the 1990s, he began to specialize exclusively in H2 technology and has since focused on concrete technical solutions (compressed and cryo) for practical hydrogen problems. This makes him the ideal lead engineer and a driving force for innovation!
Why CleanH2Shipping?
The international CleanH2Shipping project builds on other Argo-Anleg projects that have received various forms of funding and complements them perfectly. Examples include:
-
‘Development of an H2 supply concept for inland waterway vessels’ – NRW funding, funding code: EFO/0141B
-
‘Synergetics’ (retrofit of ships) – Horizon Europe grant agreement No 101096809
-
‘Seanergy’ (master plan for decarbonization of the EU harbours) – Horizon Europe grant agreement 101075710
