Partner Introduction: Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik
09/02/2026 – Duisburg, Germany
Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik (ZBT) from Duisburg, Germany, has extensive expertise in the development, testing, and analysis of hydrogen distribution and refuelling technologies, hydrogen quality, hydrogen safety, and standardisation.
More than 20 years of experience in hydrogen production, process and plant development, and the safe handling of hydrogen and other fuels strengthen ZBT’s position in handling a large portfolio.
In theoretical work and studies, ZBT addresses issues relating to hydrogen distribution concepts for connecting industries and mobility (including buses, trucks and inland waterway vessels). We advise customers and project partners on safety, licensing and approvals for the construction and operation of hydrogen facilities (including HRS, filling stations, test benches).
ZBT will primarily deal in CleanH2Shipping with regulations for handling H2-MEGCs in inland ports and on inland waterway vessels in the #EU. This includes safety standards and regulations for transporting MEGC hydrogen to inland ports and its use on inland waterway vessels. Description of the specifications for the bunkering process at national and international EU level, as well as risk assessment and the establishment of safety standards and regulations for handling in inland ports and on inland waterway vessels. This will be used to derive appropriate guidelines for inland ports with regard to interchangeable MEGCs. This project is intended to contribute to the achievement of the ‘Fit for 55’ targets and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
