Partner Introduction: Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Settentrionale
12/02/2026 – Livorno, Italy
Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Settentrionale (AdSP MTS) is the public body managing the ports of Livorno, Piombino, Portoferraio, Rio Marina, Cavo and Capraia, which together make up one of the most important Italian port poles in terms of volumes handled, production diversification, and economic value.
The partner took part on the Clean Hydrogen Partnership Study on hydrogen in ports and industrial coastal areas as case-study. It is well positioned to serve as a gateway for imported hydrogen and derivatives, to be further transported to the European hinterland. Moreover, it also acts as a logistical hub within the Mediterranean Sea, connecting the Middle East and (Northern-)Africa with Europe.
The Port Authority aims at being one of the major hydrogen hubs in the Mediterranean and has specific interests in developing hydrogen fuelled short-sea shipping in the ports Livorno and Piombino and expand low carbon technologies in the ports.
In the CleanH2Shipping project, AdSP MTS provides the necessary harbour infrastructure and logistics. AdSP MTS will provide its input and will be actively involved in multiple work packages.
This project will contribute to the AdSP MTS strategy for a green transition.
